Worcester Divorce Lawyer Comments On Interesting New Study

Recently, we came across an interesting study that we thought we would share with our Massachusetts readers.

The study, from Georgetown University's Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate, found that people who identify as Catholic have the lowest divorce rates in the country, with 28 percent reporting that they have been married and divorced at some point in their lives.

Nationwide, the percentage of marriages that end in divorce hovers around the 50 percent mark, depending on whose numbers one looks at.

The study found that people who identified as "another" religious faith (i.e. not Catholic or Protestant) had a "divorce rate" of about 35 percent, while those who self-identified as Protestant had a divorce rate of around 39 percent. Those who did not profess any religious affiliation had a divorce rate of around 40 percent.

(Keep in mind that this study was performed by an organization with a Catholic affiliation. That does not mean its results are to be viewed with skepticism; it is just good to always consider the source of any information.)
