Prohibited Marriages in Massachusetts
By law, certain people cannot marry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including:
- Most relatives, including, but not limited to, stepchildren and in-laws (see MGL c 201 §1,2), even if there is a later divorce (see MGL c 201 §3)
- Polygamy (see MGL c 201 §4)
- Minors (see MGL c 201 §7)
