Children Born Out of Wedlock – Establishing paternity by acknowledgement
Oftentimes children are born to parents out of wedlock, but both parents acknowledge that they are the parents of the child. Those parents can establish paternity by filing an "acknowledgement of paternity." This document may be filed with the court or at the town clerk's office.
